ScotiaBank ‘A’, General Accident in netball Open League showdown
-
DEFENDING champions Scotiabank ‘A’ and arch-rivals General Accident Insurance face each other in the 2010 Wisynco-sponsored Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Open League final today at the Leila Robinson Courts, starting at 6:15 pm.
Both teams advanced to the final when they topped their respective groups in the Open League play-off round-robin competition on Thursday evening. Scotiabank ‘A’ defeated their counterparts Scotiabank ‘B’ 40-19, while General Accident had to work much harder before coming out 27-17 winners over Jamaica Broilers.
The Open League final promises to be an exciting clash between two of the best and strongest teams in the competition over the years. Champions Scotiabank ‘A’ will be hoping to repeat last year’s win, as many-time champions General Accident did not participate last year.
Nevertheless, both coaches, Winston Nevers of Scotiabank ‘A’ and player/coach Oberon Pitterson of General Accident must be very confident of capturing the Open League title, but it won’t be that easy for either team as they are evenly balanced in terms of play and teamwork.
Nevers said it will be a good and exciting match between too good teams. “I know that the scores will be close, but as defending champions we are going out there to win as we know they will be coming at us.
“The shooting is going to be one of the key departments and as long as we shoot well the bankers will win.”
Meanwhile, Scotiabank ‘B’ and Jamaica Broilers will square off for third place rat 4:45 pm.
The Consolation Knockout final will be contested between Sagicor Life Jamaica and National Housing Trust which begins at 5:30 pm.
