National Scholarship Digest points students to 3,000+ scholarships valued at $4.25B
-

JAMAICA’S first comprehensive National Scholarship Digest has gone digital. The 100-page publication by Next Move Jamaica is offering 3,100 local and international scholarships, valued in excess of J$4.25 billion on line at either www.NMJInternational.com or www.nextmoveja.com — free of cost.

The 2013/2014 edition of the National Scholarship Digest, which is sponsored by General Accident Insurance Company, gives details of scholarships available at the secondary and tertiary levels in Jamaica; throughout the Caribbean; North, Central and South America; Europe; China; Japan; Australia and New Zealand. The scholarships are offered in such fields as law, medicine, information technology and mass communication.

Christopher Grant, president and chief executive officer of Next Move Jamaica and conceptualiser of the two-year National Scholarship Digest, says the publication “provides the most comprehensive database of scholarship information that allows students to go to one source to get criteria and contact information for each scholarship”.

He said the scholarships are listed by individual university, by course of study and by the type of sponsoring institutions.

“Listed scholarships are based on either the need of the student or on merit. Others are based on certain restrictions, while there are those which offer generous amounts, with little restrictions,” Grant said.

According to the publisher, the publication also includes scholarships from embassies and other international organisations such as the European Union Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.

Grant noted that the 2014 National Scholarship Digest would be distributed exclusively in soft copy that is available online at the company’s website. However, selected schools and all local parish libraries will have direct download access to the 2014 National Scholarship Digest.

The president of Next Move Jamaica said research has shown that more than 5,200 students benefited from the first publication of the National Scholarship Digest in 2012.

Next Move Jamaica Limited is a Jamaican company that was formed in 2010 to assist students and their parents in taking steps towards success. The company currently maintains a database of local and international scholarships, and offers such services as scholarship administration, study abroad programme and assistance in student immigration, through its new website: www.NMJInternational.com.
