General Accident reinforces commitment to environmental sustainability with donation to JET
KINGSTON, JAMAICA: General Accident Insurance Company Jamaica Limited (GENAC) has once again demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability with a J$330,000 donation to the Jamaica Environment Trust (JET). This contribution will support JET’s ongoing efforts in environmental advocacy, conservation, and community engagement across the island.
JET, a non-profit environmental organization founded in 1991, has been a leading force in protecting Jamaica’s natural resources. As a non-profit, securing funding is a continuous challenge, making corporate partnerships like General Accident’s essential to sustaining its work.
Dr. Teresa Rodriguez Moody, CEO of JET, expressed deep appreciation for General Accident’s long-standing support, emphasizing the importance of corporate contributions in keeping the organisation operational.
“General Accident has been with us from the very beginning, and we can’t thank them enough,” said Dr. Rodriguez Moody. “Running an organisation like ours isn’t just about funding large projects—it’s also about maintaining daily operations, supporting our staff, and ensuring we can continue making an impact. Contributions like this help us do just that.”
JET’s work extends across all 14 parishes, tackling critical environmental issues beyond beach clean-ups and extractive industry monitoring. The organisation also advocates for stronger environmental legislation, improved monitoring, and enforcement to safeguard Jamaica’s ecosystems.
For General Accident, supporting JET goes beyond corporate social responsibility—it is an investment in Jamaica’s sustainable future.
“We’re incredibly proud to continue our partnership with JET,” said Lesley Miller, Chief Information Officer at General Accident. “Their work directly benefits communities across the island, helping to preserve our environment for future generations. This contribution is not just a donation; it is a commitment to protecting Jamaica’s natural beauty and resources.”
With this latest contribution, General Accident reaffirms its dedication to environmental initiatives that benefit both people and the planet. The company looks forward to strengthening its partnership with JET and continuing to champion sustainability across Jamaica.
