GENERAL Accident pulled off a thrilling and exciting 47-41 win over arch-rivals Scotiabank ‘A’ to capture the Business House Netball Senior ‘A’ League title at the National Arena on Saturday.

The insurance girls sealed the game at the completion of the third quarter before pulling further away in the final quarter.

Goal-attack and national captain Nadine Bryan was adjudged Most Valuable Player of the final after masterminding General Accident’s triumph with nine goals from 12 attempts.

Teammate and main shooter Margaret Lawrence was also in fine fettle by netting 38 from 44 tries.

Winning coach Oberon Pitterson-Nattie, who also played for General Accident at goal defence in the final, was elated with the victory.

“I thought it was a very good match and a good fight for the entire team. It was also important for us to get on top of our opponents. It was a team effort by all the players and the shooters played their part,” said Pitterson-Nattie. “Bryan relay played very well in this final.”

Scotiabank’s coach Winston Nevers said his team failed to convert and had to many turnovers in the end.

“We lost the game as a result of not scoring our turnovers and if you don’t, you cannot expect to win the match. I think Bryan made the difference as she played extremely well and her shooting was excellent…,” Nevers said.

Nevers said their opponents also succeeded in shutting down shooter Marsha Murphy, who netted 36 from 44 attempts.

General Accident collected $35,000, the championship trophy, medals and a cake, while Scotiabank ‘A’ took home $25,000, a trophy and a cake. Third place went to Jamaica Broilers, who received $15,000 and a trophy.

Meanwhile, Scotiabank ‘A’, who had earlier captured the Open League title, walked away with $20,000, collected another trophy and cake. General Accident pocketed a further $15,000 and a trophy, while Jamaica Broilers got $10,000 more and a trophy.
