{"id":88,"date":"2020-06-20T16:43:08","date_gmt":"2020-06-20T16:43:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/3.16.186.96\/bb\/?page_id=88"},"modified":"2025-06-17T14:44:34","modified_gmt":"2025-06-17T14:44:34","slug":"things-to-know","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/genac.com\/bb\/claims\/things-to-know\/","title":{"rendered":"Things to know in the event of an accident"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"pageTitle\"><b>WHAT TO DO IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>WHAT TO DO IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT<\/b><\/p>\n<p>We all hope for the best while you\u2019re on the road, but sometimes things just happen.<\/p>\n<p>If you are ever involved in a motor vehicle accident, these are the steps that you should follow to allow us to process your claim as quickly and smoothly as possible.<\/p>\n<p>This document will guide you through those steps to be taken immediately upon an accident occurring.<\/p>\n<p>We advise you to contact our <strong>Free <\/strong><strong>Emergency Roadside Assistance<\/strong> at (<strong>246) 829-8400<\/strong><strong> to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take an accident report<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take photos at the scene of the incident<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Obtain names and contact information of all persons involved in the accident including those suffering injuries<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Obtain names and contact information of independent witnesses to the accident, including passengers in the vehicles<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write what happened as soon as possible \u2013 it is easy to forget details after some time has passed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>You should also:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Report the incident, within twenty-four (24) hours, to the Police Station nearest to the site of the collision.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take your Driver\u2019s Licence and all the vehicle documents with you when making the report.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Report the incident to us within two (2) days, no matter how minor, if you did not contact the Roadside Assistance team.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For faster processing times, you can <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mybb.genac.com\/claims\/incident\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Report a Claim<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> online<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alternatively you can reach us by phone at (246) 538-2200 and email us at\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"mailto:claimsinfobb@genac.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">claimsinfobb@genac.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0and\/or visit our offices at Suite 8, Dome Mall, Warrens, St Michael.\u00a0<\/span><b>This is very important<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For comprehensive policies, upon receipt of the estimate and necessary documentation, we will appoint an Adjuster to inspect your vehicle within twenty-four (24) hours. They will provide us with a report within three (3) to five (5) working days. You will be notified when the report is received.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Adjuster is an independent professional not affiliated with General Accident.\u00a0 Their report will quantify the estimate provided by your repairer and provide us a guide as to how your vehicle should be repaired or if it should be treated as a Total Loss (Uneconomical to repair).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within three (3) days of receiving the Adjuster\u2019s report, we will then communicate to you how we intend to settle your claim.
